Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

I recently moved out of my home. I allowed a friend and his family to stay for what was supposed to be a few weeks until he got on his feet. This was over 2 months ago. Now the city is fining me for no certificate of occupancy and no rental agreement. I'm not renting to them, but now they won't leave and I could face more fines if they don't. How do I proceed?

File an action in small claims court for costs you incur due to their refusing to leave. Also file a notice for eviction. I would have to see the city ordinance to determine if the city has the power to fine you for permitting a friend to occupy your home.
