Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

i own several rental properties. I want to hire someone to lease them. Does that individual have to be a licensed realtor?

No, not if they are acting as your agent and essentially finding people to rent/lease your properties, in exchange for a commission or other monetary compensation. This person would only need to be a licensed agent if they were offering properties for sale. Any agreement should be in writing with this person. If they are not a licensed agent, you have less protection under the law should this person doing something illegal, since you cannot attack their license or file a licensing violation. Your only remedies would be a civil action.
