Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

renters delema

we signed a 10 month lease in an appartment building and when leaving after the 10 months were told we needed a 30 day written notice before ending our lease so we are being charged $25.00 a day for 30 days even though we have moved out. I assumed 10 month lease was a 10 month lease? Any thing we can do?

Re: renters delema

What was the rent? Is the fee unreasonable in relation to the rent? Did the lease have a provision for this issue? Is the charge being deducted from your security deposit? Did the landlord follow the timelines applicable for retention of security deposit funds? For a discussion of the timelines and landlord and tenant law, please visit my website at www.lawrefs.com and search under the landlord/tenant law link.

You do have a right to dispute the fee.
