Security deposits
I went to court to evict a tenant. She did not show up. She has 10 days to pay judgement or vacate property. I am sure she has abandoned unit. She has not left me any keys. I was told not to go in till that time. After that time, when can I take possession of Security deposit to cover her non payment of rent? She had over six months to go on her lease. This is in response to your email of September 7, 2001, which this office received on October 25, 2001.
I presume by now that you have taken occupancy of your rental property and you no longer need legal advice. However, I recommend that before you rent your property again, you have your tenant sign a lease, which allows you to immediately take back the property if it is abandoned by the tenant.
