Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

I sold a car . For payment the person was supposed to work at the rate of $15. an hour until the $4000 was worked off . He has not worked for me since June of 2010. I have contacted him 6 times. He does not return calls . 3 weeks ago I finally talked to him directly . He said he would work the next day and never showed up. I did sign the title over . What can I do?

You would need to file a lawsuit to either rescind and void the contract, requesting return of the vehicle plus any money for the devaluation of the car and lack of use for a few months, or you can sue for money damages. If the guy doesn't have money, your best bet is to request the contract be voided and the court will require him to sign the title back to you. You need to sue in the city/county wherein the contract & transaction was made, or where this guy lives. Since your damages are about $4,000, it needs to be filed in the district court, general civil division. Small claims actions are only limited to $3,000, so you don't want to do that.
