Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Stolen property or not?

HI, My husband and I bought a company that was established in 1866! We bought the company and everything in the company building except a few listed things in the purchase agreement. The building or the property was not included. We are still aquainted with the previous owner. The previous owners friend has been going into the old shop and ''sorting'' through it and turning in scrap metal for money and destroying 140 years worth of previous pack rat owners. I say pack rat very loosely because everything was saved for 140 years paperwork bolts, pumps. you name it, it is there. Including of course many antique items that are very irreplaceable. The guy that is doing this has permission from the previous owner to do this it is his building and property but the contents inside it except the select few are legally ours. The only thing holding me back is the fact that we are still distant friends with the previous owner and have to deal with him through work with our new business. And the fact that we bought the business 2 years ago and had the aggreement that it would take us a while to empty out the building. He was fine with that cause he moved half way across counrty and the property needed a lot of work from polution to sell. Help

Re: Stolen property or not?

Let the judge decide. Get a court order / injunction to stop the removal of property.
