Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
Suing a condo association
I have lived in a condo for about 7 years. Once they found out I am gay they have harrased me. They have told me I have to wrong color mulch, have to me to pull weeds or they were going to pay for it to be done. They have trimmed a full grown tree to the point were its looks bad. Condo board is just running a muck !!

You are probably in for a fight. Harassment based on sexual orientation is not protected under Michigan law, but you could argue unreasonable enforcement. You could always wait until they sue you, and then counterclaim. Contact me at www.kliszlaw.com to discuss further. Tim Klisz

To prevail on a discrimination claim, you'd have to prove that the condo's complaints about your mulch, etc., were because of your sexual orientation. Even if you are in violation of a rule, I wonder if others are receiving complaints about their mulch and other matters. I would suggest you talk to a member of the Board or the management company about the situation, nicely, as you may be misinterpreting the condo board's actions. If you are not misinterpreting, and it continues or gets worse, I suggest you hire a lawyer to take action, as this is simply not acceptable or proper by any means.
