Tax Liens

If I let my home go back to the bank and it has a tax lien on it what happens to the lien? Weve owned the house for 10 years and they just put it on this year.

The lien will be dealt with through the foreclosure proceedings and if the foreclosure sale does not produce enough proceeds to pay the lien, then the lien is extinguished without being paid in full. I am only referring to what happens to the lien, and not what happens to your personal liability, if any.
