Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

two unmarried homeowners, one wants to sell the other doesn't

i have owned a home for two and a half years in southeast michigan. my ex-boyfriend (never married) and i purchased the home and we have now been seperated for a year. i want my name off the house and my half of the equity. he is not willing to do anything but sit on it, since he knows i can't afford legal representation. i would like to either sell it or have him refinance but at this point he is willing to do neither. he is currently living in the home and paying all the bills associated.

Re: two unmarried homeowners, one wants to sell the other doesn't

You could file what is called an action to partition the property - assuming that your name is on the deed. Regarding legal costs, as long as there is some equity in the home to cover legal fees, I would be interested in taking such action. You may contact me further to discuss.
