Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Michigan
I was "hit on" inappropriately by a volunteer at an organization where I volunteered. I found out later that the man had been making advances toward multiple women as well as sexually suggestive comments. As a leader of the volunteers in the organization, I prepared to ask the volunteer to leave. After letting the other leaders (all volunteers) of the organization know how I was proceeding... it opened up a mess of e-mails and debate that added to the stress of an already stressful situation. When the removal of the volunteer finally happened (not by me) one of the volunteers that was involved in the removal made light of the situation to those that had lodged complaints and even revealed to uninvolved volunteers who the people where that had made the complaints. I was asked by the organization president to be debriefed. I was uncomfortable being debriefed by him, because his partner in life is the one that breached confidentiality regarding the situation. He refused to let me talk to someone else and then removed me from the organization. Is this a violation of my rights?
