Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Michigan

Overbearing .. over interested Boss

My boss (male 55 , i'm female 33) tried to kiss me on a recent business trip to Las Vegas, I was completely shocked .. i thought we had a good mentoring relationship .. I rebuffed him and he still ''clung'' to me everywhere i was in LV.. He used to be a great person to bounce ''business'' ideas off of and i valued his feed back. Now he inundates bus. conversations with personal info, and whenever i dont have time or tell him i dont have time to listen he gets ''pissy'' and nitpicky for a week or so .. He recently called me into his office to tell me of a ''personal crisis'' that he was coming to grips with . His crisis was that he couldnt spend time outside of work with me due to my personal circumstances (im married with children) I told him my off time is my family time.. I'm certain this means more ''pouting'' on his part and in fact it has.. it makes it VERY difficult to come into a job i love and a company i'm very proud to work for.. what can i do...

First, you MUST file a complaint with your company, if you want to take this any further. Then, file a complaint with the EEO.

If you want to continue the working relationship, then consider the benefits of workplace mediation after filing your complaint. If you are part of a union, they can/should help you. If you are not, then do it yourself.

His behavior is inappropriate and you have to say and act consistently with the belief that it IS inappropriate before you can create change.

We handle cases like this in several states, and it sounds as if you have a claim. Make sure there is a documented, written complaint to human resources, and that you save a copy of the complaint. Then, we can help you with filing for money damages with the state or federal agency. Feel free to call our offices or e-mail me directly.
