Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Michigan

Store employee harassed by a mall manager

I worked in a store in a mall. I was sexually harassed with witnesses by a manager of the mall, not a fellow employee of my store. A complaint was filed, a so called investigation was done. Shortly after that, witnesses were being fired for various reasons. And I was told by the mall and my employer not to ever discuss this with anyone anymore because there was no evidence of the harassement. I have since quit because of the stress this was causing me.

I have retained an attorney and filed suit against my employer, harasser and mall but we are trying to connect the dots between my employeer and mall management. Is the mall an agent of my employer? The mall being the landlord and store being the tenant. As an employee of the store, I many times were told do's and dont's from the mall staff. I am really looking for any simular cases or laws to reference to.

Re: Store employee harassed by a mall manager

You will have to talk to the other employees who were fired to see if there is any way to connect the dots. If so, the fired employees would have a retaliation claim against the mall and their employer. William S. Stern
