Legal Question in Social Security Law in Michigan
disability backpay
hi, ive been on disability for about 4yrs now, and recently recieved my ssdi backpay. ive been told by my disability company, i must return this backpay to them. i have read my policy, and understand that this is what i should do, but it also said they could deduct my future benifits until its payed off. all though right now i have a 0 benifit coming to me at the present time, because of the offsets, in the future there will be money payable to me, that could be used to pay back this offset. ive already used all the backpay to pay off alot of my debt. so i was just wondering if the insurance company can actually sue me, or come after me for not paying this backpay all at once. thanks for your time. rich

Re: disability backpay
Can the insurance company sue you for not paying all at once? The answer depends on your contract with the insurance company. I would be interested in reviewing your contract for educational reasons and could provide you an opinion at the same time. Please email me at [email protected]. I can also be reached through my websites, www.walshlawpllc.com (a SSD website) and www.lawrefs.com ( a legal reference blog).
