Legal Question in Social Security Law in Michigan

Social Security Disability

I am a case worker for Community Mental Health and I am working with a family that has recently applied for social security for their daughter. They were told that they might qualify, because they make too much money ($50,000) annually. Is this true? Do individuals only get social security funds if their family is in poverty?

I would be happy to discuss this with you further. The answer to your question is - "it depends on the facts of the case." Your question immediately leads to additional questions - 1) is daughter minor or adult?; 2) if adult, is she living in household of another?; 3) is she paying rent?
