Legal Question in Telecomm Law in Michigan

publishing and distributing an unpublished telephone number
My telephone number and address was supposed to be unpublished. WHen I called and spoke to my carrier they reassured me that it was in their computer as unpublished. I then asked them than why is it listed in the metro area telephone book and distributed to everyone in the GR area. They offered to change my number and give me a $100.00 credit on my account. I told them that that was not satisfactory. What are the laws for this and can I seek damages from the telephone company for publishing this information?
