Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan
Hello, on august 12 2010 i rear ended some guy, when we pulled over we decided not to call the cops because i worked at a collision shop and i could fix his car for free since the damage wasn't that much. After we drove off he called me saying that the chair was broken due to the accident. I told him i would check it out the next day he brought his car into my work and it stayed there for about 2 weeks. i repaired the bumper but not the chair because there was absolutely no way the chair could of broke from such a soft impact (the bumper didnt even break, only the paint cracked and i took pictures of it) after he took the car he said he would go check if warranty covered the chair which it didn't and just today i got a letter in mail about small claims and that i am being sued.
How likely is it that i wont have to pay the $920 dollars he is asking for?
i am also under 18, so does that mean i have to go in front of the judge and talk to him/her? or do my parents?
are you allowed to have an attorney?
i can also bring the guy who worked on the car repairs to testify that the damage done wasn't enough to break the chair.
Im not sure what the next step is and im panicking help please?

You both failed to file a police report, which is a misdemeanor. As long as you had insurance, turn it over to your carrier. The most they will pay is 500$ for mini-tort. If you were uninsured, they can collect actual damaged from you with no limits. Visit me at kliszlaw.com to discuss. Tim Klisz
