automobile accident lawsuite

Hello-

I was involved in an automobile accident many years ago that I caused, and the lawsuit was settled. I admitted negligence, and the plaintiff received the settlement. Immediately after my accident, I was advised to NOT speak to any parties involved, and to not apologize to the plaintiff because it could be used against me. All of these years have passed by, and I'd really like to apologize for the accident I caused. My question is, now that the settlement is over (and has been for a long time), is there any problem with my contacting the other person to aplogize? Could this backfire on me?

even apologizing to the victim at the scene of the accident is not considered an admission of negligence or guilt in court. so yes, if it makes you feel better, apologize. call them or send a nice card. i think it's very honorable and not many people would even think of doing something that nice.

if there is some reason where you think it's best not to remind the person of the accident, then you should choose not to contact them and just let it be.
