Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan
bicyclist hit by a car
My son was crossing the street at a cross walk was hit by a taxi driver who admitted to the officer that he ran a red light and did not see my son. His injuries were 2 broken front teeth and a badly banged up knee (not broken), we are not sure if he will lose his front teeth, but they had to be rebuilt. When we got the police report it said that my son had the no-walk and the driver had a green light. There was even a fare in the taxi but no statement was taken. Do we have any rights at all now that the police officer lied?
My son is 16 and the officer would not even let him call me he had to use his friends cell phone. He had 3 friends with him that all concur with his story.

Hello, I have received a copy of your e-mail. I am sorry to hear about your son's injuries. Did anyone other than your son hear the taxi driver's admission that he ran the red light? That will be an important fact. The other important fact will be the exxtent of your son's damages. I would be more than willing to meet with you for a more detailed discussion of your alternatives.
