Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

careless driving ticket 16 yr old.

Sir,

My son,a 16 yr. old got into a traffic accident.It was a two way lane (north and south bound with no central lane and with yellow segment lines and a board saying pass with care)He was mislead by the car in front of him. This lady first put a left turn signal, then turned it off and then moved a little to the right and didn't move in any speed. Not sure what she wanted to do, my son passed her on her left, making sure no car was coming on the oppsite side. Bit unfortunately she hit him on the passenger's side and this jerk made him lose control of his car, he went to the other side and hit the back of a minivan which he cannot tell where it came from.

The police gave him a carless driving ticket. We don't know what to do. This is his first offence.Should we fight this in court with a lawyer or should my son go and tell the truth. Your advice is greatly appreciated,

Considering your son's age and the high number of points involved w/ a careless driving infraction, it is certainly worth hiring an attorney. At the very least an attorney may be able to work out a reduction of the charge.
