Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan
Hello, here is my dilemma. I'm sitting in my churches parking lot the other day, using the wifi, and a state police car pulls in. They drive up to the church and then see me sitting there in my jeep (engine off/no keys in ignition) and proceed to turn on all their lights and spot lights. The officer then demanded to see my driver license, insurance, and registration.
I wasn't doing anything suspicious and I have permission to sit there (although I realize the don't know that). I fully expected them to ask for my ID when I saw them pull in, but is it legal for them to require my insurance and registration as well, since my jeep wasn't even running?
Thanks!

They can stop and briefly investigate. We're you charged with anything?
