Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

I hit a deer while driving to work. It did not die upon impact and because I was only a short distance down the road from work, I continued to work where I reported the injured deer to my supervisor. Together we drove to try to find the deer and remove it from the road. Driving on the shoulder of the opposite side of the road with his hazards on, we were pulled over and the cop issued a ticket for over $250 despite our good intentions at trying to remove a potentially dangerous situation for others and cooperation with the officer. Is there anything we can do to fight this fine?
