Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

Hit and run laws

We were involved in a hit and run accident. We were stopped at a train and he hit us from behind going about 40 miles per hour and then he fled. This occured in Woodhaven, Michigan. They did not catch the guy until days after the incident. SO it is unknown if the 19 year old was drinking or not. There were no absolute serious injuries to us in the car, although there were injuries. He also filed a false police report in another city that stated someone hit him and ran off. I was wondering what the possible charges would be for this kid? Another question is if he could be charged for drinking even though there was no direct evidence? I would sincerley appreciate a response back asap! Have a great day and God bless!

Re: Hit and run laws

If you have not contacted the Woodhaven P.D. and reported your property damage and any injuries (especially if you received treatment), you should do so now.

Then, leave it to the prosecutor to bring charges.
