Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

Husband stopped for driving wife's car!

My husband was followed by an officer who ran the plates on my car. The plate check came back clean...& the car had not been reported stolen. The officer then stopped my husband because he was driving a car that is titled to me, his wife. So, the reason that he was given for the incident was that he was driving a car that was titled to a female...he was stopped for driving ''male!'' He explained to the officer that the vehicle belonged to his wife, and offered our phone number for him to call for my conformation...that my husband did indeed have my permission to drive my car. The officer then held my husband there and ran checks on him for about 20 minutes. Can you really be stopped because you are not the sex of the person that the car is titled to?

P.S. Neither of our autos is titled to both of us...he has his and I have mine...my folks did this as well.

Re: Husband stopped for driving wife's car!

The stop is meaningless if he was not charged with a crime or other offense. Was he ultimately charged? Visit www.kliszlaw.com to discuss. Tim Klisz
