Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

I received a speeding violation in Ohio, (Paulding Co.) for 14 mph over. I am a Michigan resident and have a Michigan drivers license. I am concerned if I accept responsibility, that the points will transfer to Michigan. I have a clean record, (no points) and do not want to have my insurance rates increased.

Contact an attorney in Ohio, specifically the city where the ticket was issued. The points will follow you here to Michigan.

Good luck.

You could try this (It worked for me in PA). Plead not responsible by mail and ask for a hearing. When the court mails the hearing date, it will ask for a bond guaranteeing your appearance. Mail this amount to the court, but don't show up for the hearing. The court will enter a default and cash the bond to pay the ticket, but no points will transfer to Michigan. The record of the ticket, in some cases, will also not be sent.

However, if your insurance company conducts sweeps of your driving record, it will likely show up.
