Change of last name in a Will
My mother made her will many years ago prior to my marriage. I am her daughter and am listed in the will as one of the beneficiaries upon her death, along with my other brothers and sisters. I am also a back-up Executrix. However, the will has my maiden name listed. Now that I am married with a different last name, will I have problems when she dies? I want to avoid going to Probate court. Her will needs no other changes in it except for the discrepancy of my last name. Does the will need to be amended or will it be accepted with my maiden name? Please advise.

Re: Change of last name in a Will
You should have no problems. Your mother';s intent is for you her daughter to receive a gift from her estate. The last name does not change the fact that you are her daughter. I am sure that you have proof that she was your mother and that before your marriage your name was ...
The will does not have to be changed just for that reason. Save the expense.
