Death

my 49 yr old freind has cancer for the 4th time.she has a 30yr old son and 3 grand daughters.she also has a condo,car,60k in a 401k and 60k in insurance.she is asking me not her son to make sure her grand daughters are taken care of.we do not know how to legally do this in such a way that her family can't cause any problems and her wishes are carried out.

I am very sorry regarding your friend's cancer. The best solution for your friend is to set up a trust, and to create a will. A trust will allow your friend to avoid probate and to insure that her wishes are followed. The type of trust will depend on her goals regarding her grandchildren. She needs to discuss her goals with a qualified Estate Planning Attorney.
