Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

deceased bank account

i was appointed gaurdian over my grand father while he was in a nursing home, by his request. I opened a bank account on for his social security and one for his pension. I took him out of the nursing home and got him a apartment. I cared for him for 4 years, he past away this year. I took care of his burial and moved the items from the apartment. Two months later i went to the bank to show them his death certificate to show he was gone and they closed his account because i was on the account as representitve payee, but i was also guardian over his pension. can they close his pension saving account also. How do i now get rights to the accounts. we did not have a will.

Re: deceased bank account

You need to open up an estate in the probate court.
