My girlfriend and myself purchased a dog together in 2007, the dog lives at my house, the dog is licensed in my name and all vet bills are in my name,my girlfriend passed away in a car accident, her mother is trying to take the dog,saying it's her deceased daughters estate. Can she do this?

Yes, she can try to take the dog from you as what you are indicating in the facts stated is that the dog was purchased together, meaning that the dog was half hers. If you want to keep the dog, keep it and appear for any hearing arguing your case. You do not have to turn over the dog absent a court order since the dog is 1/2 yours.
