Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

My father passed away 2 1/2 years ago. There was no will and since then my step mom has not provided any documentation or shown us anything from the estate. We live in Michigan. Is there a statute of limitations for settling anything without her name on it? As far as I know she has not filed anything and just moved everything to her name. But I could be wrong, she won't share any information. My brother and I are not her legal children and we want to know what our rights are. Please help.
