Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan
fulfilling estate wishes
My mother in law stated in her will that she wanted $500 left to her grandson...Once we closed her accounts we barely had enough money to have her cremated. Her home, which was willed to her son (my husband) has to go through probate, which is costing us $1200 out of our pockets. Are we entitled to pay the money to her grandson, if there was no money in the estate?

Death expenses, taxes, funeral expenses and administration expenses get paid before gifts.
