Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

My grandmother passed away without a will, my father is deceased and I'm an only child. My uncle is still living ( in New Jersey) and I live out of state. My Uncle said he retained an estate lawyer. I'm pretty sure before he retained the lawyer he sold property that should have been in the estate ( I think it was sold when grandma was dying and completed right after her death). He is now in the process of selling the homestead. I was told that there was no bank accounts or bonds. He keeps saying I will get papers from the lawyer, but I have not seen any. Should I retain my own estate lawyer? I am extremely busy with school with a tremendous amount of debt.

If you are not at all satisfied with your uncles speed on doing things or lack of communication, by all means get your own lawyer to monitor and advise you. Only then will you know your rights are being protected. Tim Klisz kliszlaw.com
