Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

My husband passed away 11/22/09. He had purchased a ATV 12/28/04. All of the paperwork was signed by him, I did not sign anything, and my name is not on any of the paperwork. I want to be able to sell it and need to know if I send in a copy of the death certificate will it automaticly be paid off? If not, am I resposnable for paying for it?

You are not responsible to pay the debt, but you are also not entitled to the vehicle either without paying off the loan. This is no different than a mortgage on a home. There is a lien on the property, and this lien survives death. The estate if your husband is responsible for the debt and owns the vehicle. You may be the sole heir.
