Re: Inheritance alive or dead!!!

A person can receive an inheritance while the person who would be devising the property at death, is alive. This is called a gift. If there is a will or trust giving the property at death, it should be changed to show the lifetime distribution. Of course the decision to do this is not that of the person who would receive the property. There are pros and cons to doing this, (and, depending on the size of the gift, possible tax implications) and it should be discussed with a lawyer before it is done. However, it is not overly complicated, in most situations.
