Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan
My mom died Nov 2013 at the reading of the will a family lawyer was present. The statement was made by my *brother in law that my mom left the 4 of us... me, my brother and two sisters (my oldest sister being the executor, though she let her husband handle things) that there was $120K cash and house later sold for $40K, after all was said and done we all each only received 20K and were told that that was all that was left. what recourse do I have?

You are entitled to an accounting that should describe the details. There could have been bills or funeral expenses deducted. Ask for an accounting nicely (with bank statements), if they refuse, please contact me to discuss the next steps and how I could help you. If they wrongfully took or paid anything, your sister is personally responsible to replace it.
