Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

My mother died 2 months ago with my sister and I as the only survivors. My sister is the Executor of the will. I have asked several times to get a copy of the will from my sister, but she has not sent it to me. Do I have a legal right to have a copy of the will. We are both listed as beneficiaries. How can I get a copy from her if she won't send me a copy? Thank you.

Once an estate is opened, it is a public record and you can get it from the probate court. Absent that, an attorney could write a letter demanding a copy and other financial information, or just open up the estate and she will have to come forward. There is the easy way and the hard way, depending on her attitude. www.kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz
