Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan
My mother (3 living adult children) died seven years ago. My step father (no natural children but has 3 step children) died a couple of months ago.
My step father has living siblings and 3 step children. Does the small estate go to the step children?

The small estate first goes to who paid the funeral bill. After that it goes to heirs. Step children are not heirs unless adopted or in a will. Hope this provides some insight.
