Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

My mother passed away around 1 year ago my step-father passed away 2 months ago without a will they was married for around 20 years my step-father has 3 children from previous marriage his children has not had any contact with my step-father my mother or myself and my brother my brother and I have both lived in the house at one time or another

Now one of his sons showed up and took over the house locked up everything in the house

is he legally able to do this?

Do my brother and I have any rights in this Matter?

You both have rights. There is a law that states how much each party gets when there isn't a will. Your step-father's kids do not have the right to lock up the house unless they have opened an estate and one of them has been appointed the personal representative by a court.
