Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

This is in regards to my mother's estate. The lawyer who wrote the will has not replyed to any of my phone calls and letters regarding the progress of the case. It's been over a year since I last heard from him and when I looked it up on the internet I couldn't even find a case number. The situation is complicated by the fact that my brother died before the will went to probate. He has two children who are to inherit his portion of the estate but I haven't had contact with them for ten years and don't have a current address. I gave my lawyer a last known address and also mailed them a letter but it was returned. I understand that this poses difficulties but I think I deserve a reply from my lawyer. I even showed up to his office several times and he wasn't there. I know he's still in practice. What should I do?
