Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

Property Settlement of Estate

My mother passed away in April 1999. There is a surviving spouse and four children, I am the oldest sibling. I was never included in any disbursing of personal belongings, home furnishings, life insurance etc. I was informed there was no Will but prior to speaking with my mother before her death she stated she had a Will. I would like to know how and what I need to do to find out if there was a Will and if I am entitled to any of the Estate.

Re: Property Settlement of Estate

You should hire an attorney to open an estate. The attorney can then conduct discovery on the children who distributed the assets. The life insurance should have been paid directly to the listed beneficiaries of the policy. If you were not a listed beneficiary you would not have received anything from the life insurance.
