Who is responsibile for signing a death certificate

My FATHER PASSED AWAY 2 WEEKS AGO AND THE FUNERAL HOME TELLS ME NO ONE WILL SIGN HIS DEATH CERTIFICATE, BECAUSE THE FUNERAL HOME BURIED HIM WITHOUT IT BEING SIGNED. WHO IS RESPONSIBILE FOR TAKING CARE OF A DEATH CERTIFICATE?

This has never come up. The county where a person died, issues the death certificate, so I would call the county clerk. It is usually signed by a doctor, but the funeral home orders them as a courtesy. It sounds like the funeral home is giving you the run-around.
