Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

What are my rights as an heir

I was informed by the executor that I was in my uncle's will.I was informed I would receive 25% of his funds after all bills were paid.I received a check for exactly $10,000 about three weeks upon his death. What are the chances I would receive $10,000. I called the attorney who is taking care of the will. I was told they do not have a copy of the will because things were added to the will. They said the executor has the will. They also said the check I received wasn't part of the will. How can I get a copy of the will as soon as possible?

They said they were still working on settling the estate. How could I have gotten a check before it is settled? Also, Do I have a right to view all bank transactions after my uncle passed?

What are my right since I was in the will. It just doesn't add up and I am a little suspicious. Please help!! Thanks

Hello,

The attorney should have a copy of the Will and should make it available to you. It is possible to get money before the estate is finished. Perhaps your uncle had life insurance and this was your share. I agree, however, that it would be unusual to be paid an even exact amount like that. You should shop around for an attorney who can make inquiries for you at a reasonable price.

Best wishes, Mark J. Mahoney
