I am 25 and my brother is 26. Our father just passed away and our stepmother says there is no will. Do we have any right to some of the inheritance or does it all go to our stepmother?

Under Michigan law, the first $160,000 goes to the widow. The remainder is divided equally between the widow and children. If the house was jointly owned between the husband and wife, the house bypasses probate and automatically goes to the wife. Bank accounts held jointly will generally go to the survivor. William S.
