Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

No sure if there is a will

Hi,

I have been taking case of an older woman, that passed two days ago, she has no siblings, parents, kids or grandkids. I went to the police station to see if I could get her paperwork from her home to give her a proper barial, the police say they can not let me go into the house, they say they can not give me the keys, or take me there to go into her home. what do I do?
