Legal Question in Workers Comp in Michigan
I was injured at work, the company medical facility wants me to get an MRI. The company's workman's comp people have not gotten back to me to say they have approved this request or denied it. I was told by a friend that after 10 days I can pursue my own doctors and or treatment. Is this true?

Your friend is correct. After 10 days you can get your own doctor. The problem with the law is paying for that doctor. If you have health insurance, generally, the health insurer will pay the bill and place a lien on your workers' compensation case. If you have no health insurance, then it becomes a problem obtaining treatment. That is a big problem with the law. Any changes in the foreseeable future will not be favorable to the working person due to the political makeup of the legislature and courts.
