Legal Question in Workers Comp in Michigan

A question about private

I am a college student in Michigan who would like to know if I can take my employer to small claims court. (I am of legal age to sue.) I had a babysitting job where I was making about $120 a week. I have a large class load this semester, and this was one of the very few jobs I could work. I was promised the job for the kids' entire school year. I had a car accident that did not involve the parents, their children, or their property. I was fired for this. I gave up two on-campus jobs that I was offered for this job,and I also took one more class than I had originally planned to. I am in a position where it would be very hard for me to find another job,or work enough hours to make that amount of money. I would like to take them to small claims court for the rest of the year's salary. Do I have a case? If I do, what it the best way for me to state that in court?

Re: A question about private

You are pursuing the wrong remedy. DO NOT SUE THE PEOPLE FOR WHOM YOU BABYSAT! This would be a very bad tactical error. Your remedy is with the car insurer. There is a provision where you get paid 85% of your wages for being temporarily unemployed as the result of a car accident. Contact me to tell me your facts so that I can tell you the proper insurer to make the claim. Bill Stern 248-353-9400
