Legal Question in Workers Comp in Michigan

re-occuring symptoms

I have two jobs, a school bus driver, and a greenskeeper during the summer. Two years ago I sustained a lower back injury when my air seat on the bus failed. While on light duty I sustaind a second injury to my neck. Three neurosurgeons including the comp doctor agreed I needed a spinal fusion in my neck which was done in March of 2002. The back however was disputed and never resolved because of the neck situation. I did have several epidural injections and a nerve block that gave some relief. Over the last few weeks the pain from both injuries has returned. My personal physician feels the continued driving is the problem. I am fearful to come forward as I doubt they will grant me light duty again or give me a duty assignment change. Further, I will loose a lot of income on Wk Comp. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You! By the way. Great site!

Re: re-occuring symptoms

You hit the problem on the head. If your doctor wants you off work and they will not give you "favored work" (light duty), then it is decision time. Only you can make that decision. Believe me, you are making a big assumption when you assume that they will simply pay you workers comp if you opt to stay off work.
