Legal Question in Workers Comp in Michigan
Senior exec (vp level) in Michigan (Oakland county) for a year with an Asian company whose headquarters are in Taiwan. Suddenly terminated on 1-year anniversary with no reason given at all - asked to leave immediately. I'd politely asked for a raise a week ago via email, that's all I can think of.
Any grounds to pursue remedies? Also the employment contract defined 2013 bonus of 30k for "$1.5M sales'. Does not specify net or gross (end-customer). Resellers send purchase orders minus their commission. So net is lower than 1.5 but if I back calculate without reseller commission, sales were well over 1.5M. Do I have a case on this wording? I honestly did not know they would measure me on net.
Man, what a lousy day.

I don't know that there's much you can do about being terminated (unless the terms of your contract provided that you would only be terminated for cause). With respect to the bonus, you might have a claim worth pursuing. Without seeing the contract, though, it's difficult to give accurate advice. You should contact an attorney who offers free consultations. I hope this helps. Take care.
