Legal Question in Workers Comp in Michigan
Unfair Employer
My boyfriend was injured on the job Monday. A machine he works on was wedged with wood and he pushed the machine shut off button and un-wedged the wood. When he did that, the machine started to run and crushed his arm. He went to the ER where they told him nothing was broken but he had to go to see the shop doctor the next day (yesterday). They told him the shop doctor had to put him through an MRI to check his tendons and make sure there were no fractures. When he went to see this doctor she did not do any more tests and even denied he was even in pain. She said he was just bruised and that he can return to work with the restriction of not using his left arm until he returns to see her Thursday. When he returned to work this morning, they put him on the same job, forcing him to use his left arm even though he gave them the paperwork stating: No use of right arm. Is there any way he can request a second doctors opinion? Also, is this something that we should consider hiring an attorney for?

Re: Unfair Employer
If your boyfriend does not lose any time from work, forget a workers' comp case. If he loses time because he cannot do the job, then get a lawyer. I specialize in workers' compensation and was an adjunct member of the workers compensation appellate commission. William S. Stern
