Legal Question in Workers Comp in Michigan
Work Release Date -no job -no comp
I have been off work for 14 months. I was robbed while I was at work. The robber put a gun to my head and forced me to lay on the floor with 6 other people. I had to get up off the floor and lock the door. I made it through work the next day. The second day came around and i had to be rushed to my Doctors office. I was having a severe panic attack. The Doctor took me off work for post traumatic stress disorder. I have been seeing a pyschiatrist and a physcologist. Everything has been going smooth up until a couple months ago. I have made several attempts to call my employer to let them know my release date was coming up and I can no longer remain at my postition. NO calls no job. October 3 was my release date and I was informed through my case worker I will no longer get paid. I have contacted Human Resources to let them know I haven't been placed in a job. They informed me they have 60 days to place me in a job and if they can't I will be fired. This doesn't sound right. I lose my pay and benefits because my employer doesn't have a job for me? I still need my counseling. I have no idea what to do or where to turn. I feel I am being punished for something that was out of my control. Do they have a right not to pay me anymore?
