Legal Question in Workers Comp in Michigan

workers comp

After two and a half years in court in court we reached a settlement offer,18 months later i have yet to see any of the money because of having to go a whole year without any money i have been put in a awful financial predicament. I approached one of those places that will give you an advance on your settlement i know their charges are high but i am really hurting. I guess the holdup is we are waiting to hear from medicare on a set aside amount. Since my injury medicare has only had to pay $15 the company i worked for paid the rest of the bills. My problem is my attorney does beleive in these companies that pay advances. Since he works for me can he refuse to cooperate with me in getting this advance?

Re: workers comp

First of all, these firms that advance money are very reluctant to do so on workers comp cases since the check goes to the client and the lawyer has no control over what happens after the clients receives the money. Therefore, you may be aggravating yourself over something that won't happen anyway. Second, your lawyer seems very wise and you'll thank him in the long and short run. Those firms charge way too much. William S. Stern
